Description

This is a High Melt Index (HMI) High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) grade 50, specifically designed for various applications, primarily focusing on thin-walled container production using injection molding, including In-Mold Labeling (IML).

  • High Melt Flow Index (MFI): With an MFI of 50 (measured at 190°C and 2.16 kg), this grade offers excellent flow properties, facilitating easier processing and faster cycle times in injection molding, especially for thin-walled parts.
  • Suitable for Thin-Walled Containers: Ideal for producing thin-walled containers using injection molding and IML techniques. The high MFI allows for complete mold filling and intricate design replication.
  • General Injection Molding Applications: While optimized for thin-walled applications, this grade can also be used for general injection molding of various parts. However, it’s essential to consider the specific properties of the final product due to the high MFI.
  • Improved Processability: Compared to general-purpose injection molding grades like 52518 (MFI 18 at 190°C and 2.16 kg) and other HMI grades such as 5035 (MFI 35 at 190°C and 2.16 kg), this grade significantly improves injection molding processability due to its superior melt flow. This translates to easier mold filling, lower injection pressures, and potentially faster cycle times.
  • Compounding and Masterbatch Production: In addition to injection molding, this grade is also suitable for compounding and masterbatch production, acting as a carrier resin for color concentrates or additive masterbatches.
